OSSD stands for Ontario Secondary School Diploma, which is awarded to students who successfully complete the requirements of the Ontario secondary school program. The OSSD Canada is recognized as a high school diploma throughout Canada and internationally. To earn an OSSD in Ontario, students must complete a minimum of 30 credits, which include 18 compulsory credits and 12 elective credits. The compulsory credits include: 4 credits in English (one credit per grade) 3 credits in mathematics 2 credits in science 1 credit in Canadian history 1 credit in Canadian geography 1 credit in the arts 1 credit in health and physical education 1 credit in French as a second language 0.5 credit in career studies 0.5 credit in civics In addition to completing the required credits, students must also complete 40 hours of community involvement activities and pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) or an alternative literacy requirement.
